“It’s an honour to be part of what’s become Canada’s defacto comedy film festival. I grew up at Shärt watching world comedy and wanting to someday make my own film.” said filmmaker Trevor Kristjianson.
The fourth annual comedy film festival will take place on Saturday, February 27 at
The Park Theatre (698 Osborne Street) in Winnipeg and includes:
– FREE Afternoon Show of international films starting at 1.30pm.
Including a comedy discussion panel with Orlando Braun and Matt Falk!
– Cocktail Reception with HALF PINTS beer samplings at 6.00pm.
– Evening Gala Awards Screening at 7.30pm.
Tickets for gala are $15 and are available online at: http://www.shartfilmfestival.com
Mark February 27th on your calendar NOW. We expect you to be there because it’s not like you have anything else to do in Winnipeg on a cold February night.
Founded in 2013 by the late Winnipeg businessman and comedy film enthusiast Ulysses W. Shärt, the Shärt International Comedy Film Festival is entering its inagural…second… THIRD FOURTH year celebrating comedy in film. The festival has received submissions from virtually every continent on earth, except for Antarctica and North Korea. South Polar filmmaking we assume has focused on dramatic films while North Korean comedy filmmakers have most probably been imprisoned. North Korea is a continent, right?
Anyway, SICFF truly celebrates the international language of laughter. We also think that comedy can change the world. Or at least make us laugh for a bit and forget how awful things are.
The festival motto is “Make Us Laugh” and its objective is to create a fun, non-traditional film-screening environment. An evening of beer, music and film. No pretentiousness here so please don’t feel pressured to wear pants.
