It’s the annual Shärt International Comedy Film Festival! What else is there to do in Winnipeg in the middle of Winter?
The day starts with comedy films at 1.30pm. No charge for our afternoon shows.
At 2.00pm filmmaker Orlando Braun along with Matt Falk will be screening “That Mennonite Joke” and then having a panel discussion about comedy, culture and everything in between. Free hugs, coffee and pastry. The film just won Peoples Choice Best Short Documentary are the Real to Reel film festival last week, incidentally.
Comedy films continue at 2.50 with Jewish Blind Date. A beautiful and funny film from Switzerland. Then we screen our feature of the fest, End of Days Inc. at 3.05pm. It’s funny and is exceptionally well done. A great study for any filmmaker with under a million dollars on how to make a film that’s worth watching!
The afternoon finishes up with comedy films from around the world. More details at our schedule page.
6.00pm is the traditional Cocktail Reception. This year we have Half Pints Brewing Company providing taste tester samples. Around 7pm the Dirty Catfish Brass Band will bring the audience into the main screening hall, usher in the trophies and the show begins! Here’s a bit of a preview video. (Even show requires tickets.)
